This is the only ferry service between the UK and Denmark, making it an ideal and popular route for people who want to sail to Denmark as well as the rest of Scandinavia and northern Europe.
DFDS Seaways has daily departures from Harwich, sailing overnight to the port of Esbjerg in Denmark. The route is used by passengers taking the popular mini cruise breaks, transport and holidays in Scandinavia. DFDS also operates freight shipping from Harwich. Esbjerg is around 175 miles from Copenhagen, and the excellent roads in Denmark make driving a real pleasure so ideal for travelling further into nearby European countries such as Germany and Poland, as well as a gateway to Norway and Sweden in Scandinavia.
The port in Harwich is located in the North East corner of Essex, and can be reached easily by main roads from both the south and the north. From the south you can get to Harwich by taking the A12 and A120. If you're arriving from the north follow the A14 before joining the A12 and A120.
